    Moms, do not be afraid to admit if you have ever felt mom rage. This phenomenon happens when you become exhausted with the constant demands that taking care of your children involves. You may feel angry that you have lost your personal identity in motherhood or don’t feel as fulfilled in your personal life because you are always busy taking care of everyone but yourself. Of course, while we know you wouldn’t trade anything in the world for your motherhood status, it’s understandable that parenting is exhausting. 

    Studies Show That Moms Are Usually the Default Parent

    Plenty of studies have shown that mothers are usually the default parents in a household. With single mothers, this would make them the automatic default parent. However, even in committed relationships and marriages, most times the mother is the default parent who handles the bulk of responsibilities related to caring for the children. 

    As mothers, we usually have everything juggled. Between shuttling them to school, packing their lunches, helping them get ready each morning, and handling their requests at home that seem to be about 100 or more of them in a day, it’s a challenge. 

    To handle what your kids need, find time for self-care, take care of the household responsibilities, and on top of that, work a job if you are a working mom can make you feel like you are a clown juggling never-ending balls. It doesn’t matter your relationship status, job status, or where you live: mom rage is a real thing.

    When you feel yourself about to lose your temper, take a few deep breaths to calm yourself. Pause for a few seconds after those deep breaths to think about how you can profess your response to your children calmly. 

    Especially if you have multiple children who are asking for something from you simultaneously or crying all at once, this can be triggering and taxing to the point that it can cause an outburst from you. Catch yourself before the proverbial volcano erupts and breathe in deeply through your nose and out through your mouth. 

    Give Time To Yourself At the Beginning and End Of Each Day

    When you wake up, allow yourself to get ready for the day with a relaxing shower, cup of coffee, or reading a favorite book before the kids wake up. Before you go to sleep, choose a fun activity that will fill your cup to get ready for the next day. Not allocating enough time to yourself can be one way that mom rage comes full circle.

    Becoming more of an expert at handling stress management starts with reframing your mindset. Practice optimism instead of being pessimistic when adversity strikes in your life.
